true story: i sat on euphorbia trigona [🔖#jmeuphorbiatrigona] when i was checking in on another plant & broke half a stem 🪴🙊😅 it’s all g though, they’ve put roots down in their new home. the other member of this trio is the red trigona cutting my friend mj gave me to the left. these guys are easy going & they love being thoroughly watered when they’ve dried out. this keeps the leaves growing + prevents them from falling out.
this month’s #📚lostinplantopia book feature is red skin, white masks by glen coulthard, a yellowknives dene professor. i read this book during my thesis & it transformed my thinking about colonialism + ways of supporting indigenous sovereignty by embracing anti-colonial resistance & liberation through decolonization + reconnecting with my ancestors & cultural knowledge.
these guys [🔖#jmsansevieria] are some of my faves. they’re super chill & haven’t had any pests or other plant issues. this summer i’m finally going to repot all of them 🐍 🐍
do you know vincent chin? he was a chinese-american man who was murdered by two white men in a racist & xenophobic attack right in detroit in 1982. last night i watched a documentary by renee tajima-peña & christine choy, which pieces together what happened to vincent chin, the injustices committed by the policing + legal systems + the media, & the effect this case had on the asian american community using news clips, interviews with people involved, including mrs. chin, vincent’s mom who fought for justice for her son, & the murderers themselves.
💭 day dreaming.
